Welcome Aboard! The Mountain Area Regional Transit Authority (Mountain Transit) provides local and Dial-a-Ride bus service to the Big Bear Valley, Running Springs, Lake Arrowhead, Crestline and Off-the-Mountain service to San Bernardino.


Member-at-Large Position

The Mountain Area Regional Transit Authority (Mountain Transit) provides public transportation for the local mountain communities. Mountain Transit's Board of Directors is comprised of two City Council Members from the City of Big Bear Lake, two County Supervisors representing Districts 2 and 3 or their designee, and one Member-at-Large representing the local mountain communities. Mountain Transit's Board of Directors invites mountain residents interested in serving on the Board as the Member-at-Large to submit a letter of consideration containing pertinent qualifications and reason for desire to serve. Letters should be submitted to BettyAnn Merrill, Secretary of the Board, P.O. Box 1501, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315 by August 8, 2014. The Member-at-Large serves a two-year term. Meetings are monthly on the third Monday of each month at 1:00 p.m. and alternate between Big Bear Lake and Crestline. Candidates will be interviewed at the Board Meeting to be held August 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., at Big Bear Lake City Hall, Training Room, 39707 Big Bear Blvd., Big Bear Lake, CA.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Mountain Area Regional Transit Authority is applying to the State Department of Transportation for a FTA Section 5311(f) Intercity Bus Program -- Capital Grant in the amount of $75,586 for the purchase and installation of two shelters.

A public hearing is proposed for Monday, July 21, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Mountain Transit's Crestline office at 621 Forest Shade Rd., Crestline, CA to consider public requests or testimony regarding this application. All requests for a hearing must be received no later than July 3, 2014. If no requests are received a notice will be published indicating that no requests were received and that a hearing will not be held.

The Mountain Area Regional Transit Authority "MARTA" está aplicando al Departamento de Transporte del Estado de la Sección 5311(f) Programa de Autobuses Interurbano -- La Capital de Subvención en la cantidad de $75,586 para la compra e instalaciones de dos refugios.

SUMMER HOURS

Ride the Weekend Trolley to the Alpine Slide, Village, Moonridge Zoo/Bear Mountain, Interlaken Shopping Center, and many local hotels and restaurants.

Fare is $5.00 per person/$2.50 Seniors & Disabled for all weekend. Children 5 and under ride free. Passes can be purchased at Northwoods, the Chamber, MARTA's office (Monday through Friday), or from the Trolley Conductor.

Starting June 21, 2014 -- Summer hours are:

Regular Weekends

  • Saturdays -- 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Sundays -- 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Weekends with Friday Holidays

  • Friday & Saturday -- 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Sunday -- 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Weekends with Monday Holidays

  • Saturday & Sunday -- 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Monday -- 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Trolley does not run on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, or Christmas.
